So I was inspired by Sarah Jayne Potter and her amazing #BossBabe series. Sarah describes the series as a collection of articles interviewing inspirational women across a multitude of industries. It’s a mixture of getting to know who they are behind the face of their brand/business as well as getting some fabulous tidbits of advice on business, motivation, inspiration, creativity and more. It really is fab and you should stop by and check it out.
This made me think about putting a spotlight on some fabulous women within the plus size community, that are doing their thing and how it would make a great feature. From that #PSBloggerBabes was born. Our first to be featured is the gorgeous Diana from Fashion Loves Photos…
150 years down the line someone, somewhere, stumbles across this interview. What would you like them to know about you and what inspired you to start blogging?
Fashion has become something of an extension of my personality, and this has got increasingly true with age. My blog began initially as a place for outtakes and press cutting to do with my photography work, but the focus shifted the years as it was nice to have an outlet where I could really be myself, and also be part of a community of like minded people. Fashion can be ordinary, and fashion can be art – so often it depends on your mindset when you wake up in the morning. Never be scared to wear what you love, try new trends or fall back on what feels comfy.
If you could choose your age forever, what age would it be and why?
I think I definitely found my confidence and style when I hit my 30s, but I always find myself wondering about the person I’ll grow into. I suspect being in my 50s might be a good age as I’ll have more knowledge, more experience but will still hopefully have a few things yet to discover.
In an ideal world, what would be your blog working environment versus what the reality is?
In an ideal world, I’d be in a coffee shop every day with a huge pot of tea and an even bigger slice of lemon drizzle! But for the most part, I write out of my tiny office space in my bedroom in-between editing, but it’s cute, cosy and works for me. Plus my neighbour’s cat visits pretty much every day, so I often have some very cute company too.
To date, what has been your favourite blog post and why?
This is a hard one! I think perhaps I’d say the Santa style dress post, because it was incredibly fun and silly to shoot, complete with a snow machine and winter backdrop. I try to not take myself too seriously, and I’m a total child when it’s comes to festive fun.
How would you describe your personal style?
I spend so much of my life editing in my pyjamas, but when I leave the house, it’s a little vintage with a modern twist. I like mixing true and vintage repro with high street trends to find a balance which doesn’t look to costume like. I’m also a sucker for hairstyles from the 40s-60s (as well as the music!) so try to mix it all together a little with no hard and fast rules.
Show us your favourite picture of yourself and why?
This photo was a double exposure taken on a kit-camera which I built a few years ago. I’d taken a shot of myself (complete with rollers no less – always oh so glamorous!) looking in a mirror, and must have not wound the film on. The trees framed on top were on Hampstead Heath, and I really liked how they lined up – almost like it was intended. Like fashion, so many photography wins are born out of happy accidents, and this has always stuck in my head as an image I’d want to use for any larger photography press in the future.
What has been the biggest change in your life since you started blogging?
How cramped my clothes are in my wardrobe! It seems like the volume of items has exploded, and over the last six years, I’ve sadly killed many a clothing rail. I’ve also made some excellent friends through blogging too which is the best thing to have come from it.
What is the single most important thing you’d like people to take away from reading your blog?
Wear whatever makes you feel happy.
Now for our quick fire ten…
What is your favourite ice cream flavour? Chocolate banana.
If money were no object, where in the world would you go on holiday? Tokyo.
What’s your favourite season? Autumn.
Would you rather be a giant rodent or a tiny elephant? Tiny elephant.
Last film you watched? Fish Story. (It’s brilliant!)
Do you have a nickname and if yes, what is it? Most people call my Kitty rather than Diana. I also get called Bun a lot by my boyfriend. I never worked out if it was in reference to bunnies or cakey buns. Knowing him, it’s probably a combination of the two!
If you had your human body, but the head of an animal, what animal would it be? Penguin.
What do you usually eat for breakfast? A cup of Earl Grey. (I eat later when I’m a bit more awake!)
Who would play you in the movie of your life story? Daria. (La la la la laaa)
Most spontaneous thing you’ve ever done? I feel like someone needs to answer this one for me!
