Here is a round up of some of the things I have loved in June…

Reading

I have about a million books on my GoodReads TBR list at the moment and despite my hardest efforts I am still struggling with reader’s block but I have started God-Shaped Hole by Tiffanie Debartolo.  I’ve heard great things from multiple sources about this book.  Here’s the blurb:

When I was twelve, a fortune teller told me that my one true love would die young and leave me all alone.

Everyone said she was a fraud, that she was just making it up.

I’d really like to know why the hell a person would make up a thing like that.

Written with the snap, glitter and wit of The Girl’s Guide to Hunting and Fishing, God-Shaped Hole is a memorable, poignant love story that will leave you weeping with laughter. It is told in the wry, vulnerable voice of Beatrice “Trixie” Jordan who replies to a personal ad, “If your intentions are pure I am seeking a friend for the end of the world.”

In doing so, she meets Jacob Grace, a charming, effervescent thirty-something writer, a free spirit who is a passionate seeker of life. He possesses his own turn of phrase and ways of thinking and feeling that dissonantly harmonize with Trixie’s off-center vision as they roller coaster through the joys and furies of their wrenching romance. Along the way they try to come to terms with the hurt brought about by their distant fathers who, in different ways, forsook them.

This story will prove so touching you will rush to share it with a friend or loved one or even a stranger.

Watching

I started binge watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix.  I had tried a couple of times before and not succeeded but it had been a while so I thought I’d try again.  Finally I managed to get into it and consequently didn’t move from the sofa for at least 3 days.   I’m not up to date yet but I have reached Season Four already.

Also it was the season finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 9.  I’m absolutely obsessed with this show and one season a year is just not enough.

Eating

Everything as usual…I mean seriously I’m fat FFS but I have discovered halloumi.  How I went so long without having this in my life is beyond me.  I tried it once years ago without it being chargrilled and it was minging.  This has been rectified and it appears my George Foreman Griddle is now only used for cheese.  I pop some on there, some Mediterranean vegetables in the pan (minus the courgette) and finish it off with my favourite accompaniment…The English Provender Co Caramelised Red Onion Chutney.  Totally delicious…in fact my mouth is watering…in fact I must stop at the shop later and grab some halloumi.

Writing

I desperately wanted this to say blog posts but alas I can’t lie.  I’ve only managed to push out two posts in June and they were a chore.  That being said I am feeling a little reinvigorated at the moment so hopefully more will come throughout July and I can pick up pace again.  Until then feel free to take a mooch back through some of my older posts.  Here are a few of my faves…

Wearing

I’m pretty sure this one won’t shock anyone who knows me but the answer is Scarlett & Jo.  I was fortunate enough to be selected to go on the Scarlett & Jo Thank You Day.  The event took place on the absolutely scorching 17th June at the amazing Chandos House, just off Regent Street in London.  It was a photo shoot during the day which included hair and makeup followed by a dinner and disco in the evening.  I have to say this is one of the first events like this I have taken part in and next to my wedding day I don’t think I’ve ever felt like such a pampered princess.  The venue was amazing and if you ever get a chance to visit you should do.  There are so many amazing pictures available – just check out the hashtag #SAndJThankYouDay across social media platforms, in the meantime here are a few of mine…

Listening To

This is a difficult one for me as I usually just have the radio on in the car or a CD.  My problem comes because my new little lady has a cassette player but the CD changer in the boot but it doesn’t work.  Sad times.  Before this I was listening (on repeat) to Lady Gaga’s album Joanne.  Lady Gaga is probably one of my favourites singers and my favourite song on the album is Million Reasons.

Quote I’m Loving

I often see quotes online and one of my favourite things to do is to recreate them in a new graphic.  This is one of my favourites from June…
