So I was fortunate enough to win a fabulous competition that the gorgeous Nancy over at Sugar, Darling? was running a little while ago. The prize was 2 tickets to Curve Fashion Festival in Liverpool on 9th September 2017 and a £50 voucher for In The Style Curve.
I know what you are all thinking…”£50 voucher! what a lucky thing” but honestly I scrolled through the website and got a bit of a panic on thinking that there didn’t seem to be much for me. I had my eye on a super cute black dress with rose appliqué only when I went to order it mysteriously disappeared and I was back to the drawing board.
It’s not that there is a shortage of choice on the website. There are some amazing pieces available including a gorgeous blush waterfall jacket and a rose gold sequin t-shirt dress but I just wasn’t drawn to anything specific. This is mainly because I am a complete fussy bitch. I guarantee had I not had the voucher I could of easily found a dozen things I needed.
I am a total sucker for a bardot neckline and out of everything a beautiful nude floral bardot maxi split dress took my eye. The more I looked the more I knew I could see myself in it so I took the plunge and ordered. As it turns out they do the same dress in red and it went into a flash sale later on in the week so I grabbed that as well and a pair of rose gold aviator sunglasses.
Now I’m highlighting the red first as, despite ordering it later, due to a processing error my first order didn’t go through properly so it arrived first.
The dress itself is a beaut. The bardot neckline is gorgeous with cute little bingo wing coverers if you like. I’m not prissy about my bingo wings. I like to use them like a shield of steel to deflect negativity but I do know some prefer not to have them highlighted so these little sleevelets are perfect. The dress is 100% polyester and is available from a size UK6 to a UK28. I would say the sizing is very generous so you could probably get away with sizing down.
The top is shirred and I really like this effect but this one was particularly great. They usually tend to cut off to short and end at a weird place on the boobies which makes them not long enough for full thripney coverage but this one was fab. I will say that the dress was a lot longer than I was anticipating. Like I think I’d need to have maybe 5/6 inches taken off but then I’m only 5’4″ #ProblemsOfAShortArse.
The material was slightly thinner than I thought it would be. I absolutely love the wrap over style skirt and huge front split. It gives my thigh a cheeky little chance to pop out and say hello and the floral print is also lush. For the purposes of the picture I teamed it with a pair of old red heels from Everything5Pound.com. You could easy wear wedges or gladiator sandals.
My nude version has now arrived and once the weather dries up a bit I am looking forward to getting some pictures wearing that too. In the meantime you’ll have to make do with a cheeky little out take from my attempts to get some decent pictures for this post.
